DIO-MATIC, automated powdered color dispensing equipment is equipment for the efficient and effective delivery of powdered iron oxide pigments to the concrete mix. Using Programmable Logic Controls (PLC), the equipment can be linked to ready-mix batching systems for the automated delivery of virtually limitless color options. The DIO-MATIC dispensing system will link directly to the concrete batch controls to deliver the correct amount of material to the concrete batch and provide a fully dispersed, integrally colored concrete mix, automatically.
Advantages
By dispensing powdered pigment, this equipment reduces labor and raw input costs for ready mix operators.
No color inconsistency from settling
Increases margins and creates value added services for the concrete batch plant operator
No need to manually add color to the concrete truck
Powdered vs Liquid Pigment
Liquid Pigment Systems are blends of powdered pigments, chemicals and water. Since these systems are water dispersions, they contain a large amount of water, typically over 40%. By utilizing powdered iron oxide, concrete batch plants eliminate the use of materials that contain a large amount of water, thereby reducing raw input costs.
Features Include:
5 - Bulk Storage bins with Auger Feeds
Fully Automatic Weigh-Batching of Dry Pigment and liquefaction of the material for easy delivery to the concrete batch.
Pump dispensing to Mixer
Multiple Base-Color Blending for Secondary and Tertiary Color Development
Batch and Auto-Wash Water Volume Data-Acquisition for Reduction from Mixer Water Volume
Vibratory UHMW Weigh-Hopper Liner for Cross-Contamination Control
Clean-Out Door for Micro-Clean-Out
Individual Dust Control Hoods for Hygienic Bag-Loading of Pigment to Bulk Hoppers
Comparison of Color Dispenser Systems
Dry Pigment Dispensing:
Pros:
Accurate control of pigment population in concrete mix by way of weigh-batching a given
volume of color pigment into a wet batch mix
Low shipping costs of raw materials (No Water)
Cons:
Inconsistent dispersion of pigment into and through wet concrete mix; Difficult-to-control
workplace dust contamination; Difficultly of material handling into mixer; Difficultly blending
base-color powdered pigment into homogenous blends for creation of secondary colors.
By processing the dry iron oxide into a liquid before addition to the concrete batch, Concretech DIO-Matic combines the advantages of both dry and liquid delivery systems to create the highest quality, lowest cost pigment dispensing system on the market.
